Quick fix Chicken meat ball recipe

This Chicken Meatball recipe is for the times you want something special yet can't be bothered with too much effort. The usual meat ball recipes take quite some time to make. This was cooked under an hour and can be perfectly accompanied with hot Rotis or Steamed Rice.

For a non Desi version, you may also pour this over some cooked spaghetti and top it off with Parmesan cheese.Another way to serve it would be with some mashed potatoes and cheese.

I usually like no fuss foods which are easy to make, are wholesome, nutritious and quickly prepared.

Ingredients:
For the meatballs:
1/2 kg chicken thigh boneless
1/2 an onion
Garlic paste 1 tablespoon
Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
Green chillies 2 small
Plain flour 1 Tablespoon
Black pepper 1/4th teaspoon
Salt
4 Tablespoons Oil

For Gravy
Ginger Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
2 onions diced
2 tomatoes pasted
Cumin powder 1 spoon
Paprika Powder 1 spoon
Salt
Fresh Basil leaves for seasoning

Method:
Clean and cut the chicken pieces into small pieces. Let the water drain off completely or pat dry with a paper towel. In a food processor blend together the onion, chillies and chicken.Make sure that you only pulse it so that you don't end up with mush using no water at all. The fat from the chicken thigh helps to combine the meat together. Add the ginger garlic, salt, black pepper, flour and mix well. Now you can proceed to make meatballs of this mixture. If the balls don't come together you may add breadcrumbs. This may be due to excess water from the chicken/ paste.
Heat the oil in a small pan. Now fry the meatballs in small batches of 4-5 balls only over medium heat. Cook only until the outer is brown, we don't want to cook them all the way through in this stage. We are using minimal oil so as to avoid excess oil absorption.

Once you are done frying with the meatballs you will be left with very little oil in the pan. add the ginger garlic paste to the same pan. Let it cook for about a minute. Now add the onions and let it cook till the onions are translucent. Then proceed to adding the Tomatoes and cook for a good 7-8 minutes, covered. Add the roasted Cumin powder and paprika powder( I used a smoked variety which adds to the flavour), salt, a pinch of sugar and stir well. Now add the meatballs and let the gravy simmer for about 6-7 minutes. Let the pan be covered so that we don't lose water from the gravy.

Finally garnish with some fresh basil leaves and you are ready to serve this wholesome food with any Carbohydrate of your choice.
