Of 'Ifs' & 'Buts'

Of love and life and longing you talk,

And of ‘Ifs’ and ‘buts’ too,

You think of a world without me,

And that life would continue for you.

For me it’s this and now and here,

And how I love you today and forever,

No ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ and conditions to that,

No poetic liberties, I am sure you’d be glad.

We can’t know what life would be,

If one would survive and other cease to exist,

No point in delving in thoughts of unknown,

Let’s nurture our love to the end of our own.

The world would continue to spin as you say,

Time shall move too,

Knowing that I loved truly,

My life would be complete – alive or doomed.
